How we work out the best time to visit

Whether you're chasing the sun, avoiding high temperatures or hoping to dodge the monsoon season, our 'best time to travel' tool is here to show you when to go to your chosen destination at a time that best suits you.

The search has a default setting of daytime temperatures between 22°C and 30°C, and 10 hours of sunshine. However, these can be altered to reflect your preferences. For a more detailed breakdown, you can also include the following criteria:

average number of days with some rainfall
average amount of rainfall
average level of discomfort from heat and humidity
average sea temperature

Whether you decide to change the default criteria or not, once searched, the finder displays the month(s) of the year that best matches your criteria in terms of warmth, sunshine, sea temperature and more in your chosen holiday destination.

Each month is star-rated with up to a maximum of five stars showing how well the weather usually matches the combination of your chosen criteria.
