Top tips for January holiday sales
January is a very popular time to book holidays, travels and adventures for the year ahead. There are so many fabulous offers for all interests, it's just a question of taking your time and choosing carefully.
Here are a few tips for making the most of the January sales online.
1. Think ahead
While spontaneous buys can make you feel like a January sales winner, there's no harm in planning ahead so you can search for deals that relate to any future trips.
Going to a wedding abroad next year? Perhaps there's a special anniversary coming up, a big birthday or you just know you really want to go to a specific destination.
Whatever you've got coming up in 2025/2026, the array of January sales could help you sort part or all of an inevitable trip in advance at a steal.
2. Get started early
One of the best things about booking travel in the January sales is that you can usually get cracking before Christmas, as sales begin much earlier than they used to.
What's more, you can do it from the comfort of your sofa, whether you're using a laptop, iPad or phone, and you don't even need to leave the house.
3. Extended offers
New Year's Day isn't the be-all-and-end-all of chances to bag a holiday bargain - you also have the opportunity to browse even more offers in the coming weeks, which often sees a whole new set of travel deals released.
So, if you haven't found what you're looking for, remember to check back throughout the month.
4. Get good travel advice
Exploring the big wide world is one of life's greatest joys. However, it's always worth doing your homework and making sure you're armed with all the knowledge about your chosen destination to ensure it's right for you.
As well as using a blog like ours and highly regarded travel magazines and newspapers for planning, it's always good to see what the FCDO has to say about a place or country as well.
5. Stay safe online
If a travel deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. Avoid being duped online by booking via online travel agents (OTAs) or direct with airlines and holiday companies that you recognise, know and trust.
Also, look for ABTA and ATOL protection stamps and, where possible, book using your credit card for added protection against the collapse of a company or unforeseen issues with your booking.
