Whether you love the luscious landscapes in your favourite film or long to follow in the footsteps of your film idol, here are nine places to visit, whatever the weather.

Where to stay: find the perfect place to stay across the UK for less with Hilton*, which offers accommodation for all budgets.

Bridgerton - Bath

The sweeping curve and groundbreaking style of the beautiful Royal Crescent in Bath, Somerset, is one of the stars in Netflix's blockbuster series, Bridgerton. Find the Featherington family's home at 1 Royal Crescent.

In real life, this is an immersive Georgian museum that doubles as the outside of their house. Buy a ticket to peek inside or take a Bridgerton walking tour around the compact city, which is easy to navigate on foot from the train station.

Marvel at the magnificent stained-glass windows as you pass Bath Abbey. Or, spend time in The Holburne Museum at the end of Great Pulteney Street (used as the grand exterior of Lady Danbury's mansion in Bridgerton).

Then, dress up in Regency-style on a visit to The Jane Austen Centre in Gay Street. The famous author set two of her novels in the city, and there's a costume section on the ground floor.

House of the Dragon - St Michael's Mount

Prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon filmed scenes for Driftmark on the ancient tidal island of St Michael's Mount. Telling your teens that this is where the funeral scenes of the Queen take place in the first series is a great way to encourage them to visit the castle with you.

The island is linked to the town of Marzion by a cobbled causeway, which is covered at high tide. Visit at low tide, or from the end of March to the end of October, catch the boat crossing for the short trip across to explore the castle and gardens.

Poldark - St Agnes

Tour Cornwall and drop in on the village of St Agnes, 25 miles from St Michael's Mount. The area is known as 'Poldark country' as author Winston Graham took inspiration from the breathtakingly beautiful landscape here.

The now-disused mine often takes centre stage in the storylines. It sits dramatically on the edge of the coastal path at St Agnes Head with stunning beaches below. It's lovely to walk in summer and early autumn when the gorse and heather are out in force.

War Horse - Castle Coombe

This chocolate box village, with a pretty stream and a 14th-century market cross at its heart, was the focus of Stephen Spielberg's adaptation of WWI drama, War Horse. It also featured in the romantic adventure film, Stardust and the 1967 version of Dr Dolittle.

Combine your visit with a trip to nearby Laycock. Or, head to the renowned local motorsport venue, Castle Coombe Circuit. It's the place to watch racing, or you can even hire a Porsche to try a trip round the circuit yourself.

Downton Abbey - Newbury

Enjoy the ease of narrowboats gliding past as you saunter along the towpath of The Kennet and Avon Canal in the historic market town of Newbury.

Catch the train here from London, then a taxi to travel the seven miles south to Highclere Castle, better known by many as Downton Abbey.

The real-life home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, the castle is open at various times throughout the year. Tour the main state rooms, bedrooms and the old staff quarters familiar from Downton Abbey series and films.

James Bond - London

Recreate (well, almost) the scene from The World is Not Enough when Pierce Brosnan chases an assassin by boat along the River Thames in London before the villain tries to escape from the roof of the Millennium Dome.

Just sign up for your own high-speed boat ride from Tower Pier, zipping along the Thames with Rib Experience.

Strap into a harness for an exhilarating outdoor climb over the iconic white roof of the O2 itself for unique views of London with 'Up At The O2'. At the top, you can spot landmarks up to 15 miles away on a clear day.

Wuthering Heights - West Yorkshire

Follow in the footsteps of Margot Robbie, seen filming in the Yorkshire Dales for the latest version of Emily Brontë's classic Wuthering Heights, which was filmed across parts of Swaledale, Arkengarthdale and the village of Low Row.

Emily Brontë's tragic tale of Heathcliff is set on the wild, purple moors above the village of Haworth, where the Brontë family lived.

Their home is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, a fascinating time capsule. Well worth a visit before jumping on board a steam train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, said to be one of the world's greatest heritage railways.

Harry Potter - Edinburgh, Scotland

The Scottish capital inspired author J K Rowling to write the Harry Potter books, and since then has become a beacon for fans from all over the world and Greyfriars Kirkyard is one of the filming locations on the list.

Mosey around the gravestones to spot familiar names, from Thomas Riddell to William McGonagall (as in Minerva McGonagall). The cemetery itself was already famous as the home of faithful dog, Greyfriars Bobby, and the shop and museum here explain the story.

Elsewhere in Edinburgh, the higgledy-piggledy nature of buildings in Cockburn Street and Victoria Street is thought to have inspired Diagon Alley.

Harry Potter - Laycock, Wiltshire

Step back in time on a visit to Laycock, a perfectly-preserved Wiltshire village, sitting between Bath and Swindon that was the site of other Harry Potter scenes.

The utterly bewitching Laycock Abbey was used for filming both The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, when interior shots stood in for Hogwarts.

Wander through the village itself to take in the timber-clad cottages before relaxing in one of the historic tea shops.
