What's included?
What's included in your HF Holidays booking* will depend on the type of holiday you book, but each holiday page includes a clear list of what's covered.
This can include everything from accommodation and return flights to transport and sightseeing entrance fees. Holidays with flights also include a hold baggage allowance of at least 20kg. Checked-in hold luggage size and weight allowances depend on the airline you're flying with.
If you're booking to stay at one of HF Holidays' country houses, a full-board experience is included. This means you'll enjoy a cooked or continental breakfast each morning, generous packed lunches, delicious three-course meals every evening and a complimentary cream tea with freshly baked scones on arrival.
Each guest room in HF Holidays' country houses comes with a choice of single, double or twin beds, as well as an en-suite bath and shower room. Some rooms also feature personal outdoor spaces, and there are rooms suitable for family groups, too. You'll can also enjoy free on-site parking and electric vehicle charging, as well as free Wi-Fi in public areas.
Walking grades explained
To make it easier to understand the skill and fitness required for specific walking routes, HF Holidays provides a helpful walking grading system*. Each walking holiday is graded from 1 to 6 depending on its distance, ascent and terrain, with 1 representing the most relaxed pace and 6 the most challenging.
Where walks are graded 1 or 2, you can expect shorter walks and easier gradients, while walks graded 3 or 4 can involve some upland areas, rugged footpaths and longer distances.
Meanwhile, walks graded 5 or 6 require more stamina with sustained ascents and descents, mountain terrains and on some occasions, high summits and ridges. Always check the details on the holiday page before booking, and reach out to the HF Holidays team for advice whenever you're unsure.

Does HF Holidays offer group bookings?
Yes, HF Holidays offers group bookings for families, clubs, groups of friends and colleagues, with many irresistible discounts thrown in. To qualify for a group booking, there must be at least 10 adults in the party.
The group organiser (this can be anyone booking on behalf of the group) will be responsible for all contact and payments, and will be entitled to additional benefits.
How fit do I need to be?
As HF Holidays* offers walks to suit all paces, you're sure to find a walking holiday aligned with your level of fitness. When browsing potential holidays, you can check the walking grade on the holiday page.
It's advisable to consider your fitness level when booking. Special interest holidays tend to involve walking and active sightseeing, while discovery tours can involve lots of time on your feet and away from the bus. Don't worry, though, there are always plenty of coffee stops and opportunities to sit down and relax factored into the itineraries.
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are welcome to stay at four of HF Holidays' country house locations* on self-guided walking holidays, including Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia in Wales and Exmoor and the Shropshire Hills in England.
An extra charge of £10 per night per dog applies, and the maximum number of dogs allowed per room is two. Dogs are not permitted on guided walks or in communal indoor spaces, including the main house, public rooms and lounges.
It's also advised that owners bring extra towels for muddy paws, as well as dog food, bedding, bowls, toys, treats and poo bags. Owners must also ensure that dogs are kept on a lead on the grounds, kept away from furniture in guest rooms, and not left alone in rooms for long periods of time.
