Suriname weather overview
Suriname is a small country in South America with a narrow low-lying Atlantic coastal plain but the rest of the country is hilly and forested. It has an Equatorial climate which is warm, wet and humid throughout the year, with heavy rains from May to July and again from November to January.
The northeast trade winds bring some relief on the coast and you can escape the sticky heat and rain by moving to higher ground inland. Here, temperatures are cooler, especially at night, and rain is lighter, falling mainly between April and September.
What to pack for Suriname weather
Always pack rainwear alongside light cotton clothing and a warm cover-up for visiting the highlands.
