Unlike many other airlines, KLM has not had a premium economy class, until now. The new class, which will be called Premium Comfort*, will offer seats with more legroom, a footrest and a bigger entertainment system and screen.

The seats will also recline further than standard economy seats. Passengers booking a Premium Comfort seat will have a more generous baggage allowance and special check-in and boarding privileges, too.

Premium Comfort will initially be available on transatlantic flights connecting the Netherlands with North America and should be fitted by late summer 2022. The airline plans to roll out the new class across all of its aircraft by the end of 2023.

Meanwhile, KLM's Business class* offering is also having an upgrade. From 2023, the airline's older fleet of Boeing 777s will be brought in line with the newer 787 Dreamliners when the lie-flat business class seats will be upgraded, put into a herringbone layout with direct access to the aisle and given privacy doors.
