Falkland Islands weather overview

The Falkland Islands, which lie around 400 miles off the coast of South America, are largely low-lying. Cool currents from Antarctica keep the climate here temperate, and quite wet. Conditions are similar to those of the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland but winters are longer and colder, with frequent gales and snow storms.
