About The View from The Shard

The Shard, so called for its angled, pointy design reminiscent of a shard of glass, was completed in 2012 while the brand new visitor experience of The View from The Shard* opened soon after in 2013.

Getting there: handily, The View from The Shard is easily accessed from London Bridge station*, making it easy to get to for anyone visiting the capital.

What can you expect?

The attraction starts with a high-speed ride in the lift, with its video screens emulating a swift rise up above London. The lift soars upwards at around six metres per second, taking roughly one minute to reach Level 68, where the real adventure begins.

The main observation deck is found on Level 69, a huge triple-height enclosed gallery that promises 360° views up to 40 miles in every direction (on a clear day!).

Try the interactive "Tell:scopes", which highlight some 200 landmarks below or sip on a pre-booked glass of fizz as you soak in the scene.

Did you know? The View from The Shard hosts regular events*, from DJ sets and silent discos to special family days.

From here, it's up again to the open-air viewing platform on Level 72, which is the highest level open to the public in The Shard at 244 metres (800 ft).

It promises even more spectacular views with the thrill of fresh air swirling high above and the 'shards' that make up the peak of the building clear to see overhead.
