About the RAC
The RAC* helps its member drivers with roadside assistance when their vehicles break down.
Founded in 1897 as the Automobile Club of Great Britain, the RAC first introduced uniformed patrols to help those in need of motor assistance in 1901, followed by RAC breakdown telephone boxes, which first appeared in 1912.
Today, the RAC has more than 12 million members and continues to innovate with additions such as the UK's first van-mounted charger for electric cars that have run flat.
The orange, RAC-emblazoned vans, familiar to anyone who drives in the UK, carry no fewer than 500 parts and tools to help their engineers fix problems on-site.
In fact, the RAC is said to successfully get four out of five vehicles back in action at the roadside, while towing is used for those with more fundamental problems.

Types of UK breakdown cover
There are various ways in which you can shape your RAC membership to suit you. Perhaps you drive but don't own a vehicle? There's a membership for that.
Maybe you want to cover your electric car*? There's one for that too. Drive a lot for work? Yep, the RAC have cover for businesses*. Firstly, you can choose between the two different ways in which to get cover:

European breakdown cover
