Niger weather overview

Niger is a large country in Africa to the north of Nigeria. It is a vast country which, in the north, includes a large swathe of the Sahara Desert where only isolated settlements of people live. The north of the country sees virtually no rain; further south where most of the population is centred, rainfall is moderate but by no means reliable.

Rain is most likely to arrive in July and August, when it comes as a blessed relief from searing summer temperatures and a succession of hot, dusty days.

What to pack for Niger weather

For most of the year, light clothing is best, supplemented by warm wraps for cooler evenings.
