Nicaragua weather overview
The largest country in Central America, Nicaragua has a Pacific and a Caribbean coastline and, although hilly, it is less mountainous than other countries in the region. Most of the interior consists of hot tropical lowland or hill country where temperatures are cooler, especially at night.
Both coasts are hot, humid and rainy, especially during the May to November wet season. Sunshine levels are highest in the winter months (December to April), which bring little rainfall and so make this a good time to visit, especially if you can stay in the hills where the air is crisper.
What to pack for Nicaragua weather
Take light clothes, warmer cover-ups for the highlands and rainwear in the wet months.
