About Qawra
Qawra sits so close to Bugibba on Malta Island - a mere 20-minute stroll away - that they're almost one and the same - except they're not.
Qawra may be a purpose-built tourist resort, but it's a touch quieter and more laid back than its boisterous neighbour.
If you're considering going on holiday to Qawra, make for the Blue Flag beach at Qawra Point. This rugged and rocky stretch is ideal for snorkelling and diving, plus many action-packed water sports are available too.
As with Bugibba, Qawra has a host of beach clubs and public lidos if you fancy steering clear of the jagged shore.
Head to the centre in the evening after enjoying a walk along the promenade at dusk. Tourist Street is where all the action is, with a great number of restaurants and pubs that stay open until the early hours - try Fuego for a go at salsa dancing.
It's also a great place to sample local Maltese cuisine such as timpana - a devilish pasta pie - not for the carb conscious!
History lovers, never short of things to see on holiday in Malta, can take a peek around the 17th-century Qawra Tower, now home to a pool and restaurant.
It may have seen better days, thanks largely to some unforgivable attempts at restoration, but it's still charming and worth a visit.
