Uganda weather overview

Although it is landlocked, Uganda's weather is affected by the presence of three huge lakes: Lake Victoria, Lake Kioga and Lake Albert. Lake Victoria, in particular, generates belts of heavy rain and thunderstorms which affect the lake shore and the Western mountains. Central and northern Uganda have less rain.

The rest of the country has two main rainy seasons - March to May and October to December - when downpours can be heavy and apparently endless. Uganda is a high country and its altitude creates temperate conditions with humidity under control and plenty of sunshine away from the mountains.

What to pack for Uganda weather

Nights can be cool, so supplement light clothing with warmer attire. Take effective waterproofing during the rainy seasons.
